How To Say No
To prepare yourself, really ready for your discussion, you will need to expect pushback or even outright rejection of your proposals. The best way to avoid tripping over your words and capitulating without reframing or making a counteroffer is to write scripts. These are scripts you will practice ahead of your dialog. Right now, I wish to offer you a few of the most frequent objections and problems that come up. The first set of issues is a flat out"No" to any sort of a raise or tiny bulge. You may hear something like,"Nobody's getting a raise at the moment. "Great, what do you do with that conversation starter? Just do not forget that no is the start of the discussion not the ending along with your go-to ability is diagnostic questions such as,"What is behind that choice? "Or,"What do you foresee happening"in the next couple of years? "Or,"When do you expect"things will loosen up? "What I'd like to highlight here is that while Ultimately,"No" could be the final answer, you need to ask questions which will help you.
